Why is food grade silicone non-curing or sticky on the surface?

The main reasons for the non-curing or sticky surface of food-grade silicone are as follows:

1. The temperature is too low during operation.

2. Part A and part B are not mixed strictly according to the specified ratio.

3. The mixing is not complete and even.

4. The mixing container or mixing tool is not clean.

5. The surface of the original mold is not cleaned completely (especially the original mold contains heavy metal elements or contains nitrogen, sulfur, phosphorus, tin, arsenic, mercury, lead, etc).

6. The material of the original mold is polyurethane resin.

How to solve the non-curing or sticky surface of food-grade silicone :

1. We can increase the curing temperature. In addition, increasing curing temperature has the advantage of shortening the curing time.

2. During the mixing , mix strictly in accordance with the mixing ratio provided by the manufacturer. For example, normally mixing ratio of food grade silicone is 1:1 and 10:1.

3. When mixing part A & part B , be sure to use a clean container and mixing tools.

4. It's best to spray a layer or several layers of release agent on the surface of the mold. The release agent can effectively block the contact between the silicone and some chemicals in the mold that cause the silicone uncure.
